URGENT: FashionJobsCentral.com - Buyer Beware!!!

***** URGENT NOTICE *****

FashionJobsCentral.com is copying jobs from StyleCareers.com. They have little regard for the accuracy of the copied ads OR if the ads are even still active.

In our opinion, FashionJobsCentral.com's business plan is based on tricking job seekers (mostly entry-level) into buying access to their website. To make matters worse, they make it very difficult (almost impossible) to unsubscribe from their service (see below).

CHRIS KIDD'S JOB SEARCH RULES: How to NOT look stupid when searching for a job! (con'd)

3. EMAIL ADDRESSES

Don't use .edu, family or work email addresses. Your email address for job searches should look and sound professional; assume a recruiter will see it. Actual examples of email addresses NOT to use are

...boi_toi_69@domain.com
...midnightfantasy2000@domain.com
...jensonfamily@domain.com
...RU4real82@domanin.com

As with most correspondence, assume recruiters will read anything and everything you send.

CHRIS KIDD'S JOB SEARCH RULES: How to NOT look stupid when searching for a job!

1. BE REALISTIC

Don't apply to jobs that are beyond your experience or education level. Submitting an application to a position that is way above your abilities makes you look bad and hurts your professional credibility.

2. DON'T PAY FOR JOB LISTINGS

There are a number of websites that prey on inexperienced job seekers. Most promise access to thousands of jobs in a particular industry for a small monthly fee. While these sites may have thousands of jobs, most "scrape" jobs from… Continue

Hi Chris,
I was looking forward to the career fair as well. There were a few employers on that list that I was very excited to have the chance to meet and get in touch with. As I am sure you know, in this indusrty a lot of the job hunt is about who you know and who you meet. Do you have access to HR at any of these companies. Mainly Guess, BCBG Max Azria, BEBE and etc. The hardest part is getting the interview. Well and of course the economy. I have had so many employers interveiw me. Out of a large groups of people they chose be but due to economic situations they are not hiring yet. So if you happen to have e-mail adresses to some of the companies that were thinking about coming to the career fair, I would be willing to fly out to them for an interview. If so please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. Thank you Chris.
Sincerely, Rachel Jarvis

I enjoy some of your resume tips, I am in a career management class and have been learning the same things. As for making a resume, the key is to tailor your resume to the job that you want. How can I do that with only experience coming from school? I have had other positions in the military and civilian world, but none relate to what I am pursuing.
